BIO/CV

Jill Tate (b. 1983, Rugby, UK) is a visual artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. She gained a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Contemporary Photographic Practice from Northumbria University in 2005. After establishing herself as a professional architectural photographer, she shifted from making mostly photographic artwork to focus on painting. Working primarily in oils, Jill makes representational paintings of simplified domestic spaces, in order to physicalise abstract concepts that relate to perception and the meaning of home. Jill's paintings are held in private collections and have been exhibited throughout the UK.
